A Smorgasbord of Stitches
September 7 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm| $90.00
Instructor: Deborah Simon
Come enjoy the last days of summer in Port Gamble! In this class you will be designing your own mini-skein cowl by choosing from a variety of knit stitches. Make it symmetrical, asymmetrical, or just plain random. Then take the extra step to find just the right color vehicle for your creation–the subtle shades of fade, the clash of complementary colors, or a unique dance to your own tint and tune.
Experience Level: Advanced Beginner. Limited experience in circular knitting. Someone who is ready for simple lace. We will cover and explain YO, double YO, SK2P, K2tog, and similar step-two stitches.
What to bring: You will need a 16” size 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle. You may bring your own or purchase one from us for $20. You will also need approximately 1 ounce of fingering weight yarn, in each of 5 different colors of your choosing. Or bring your stash and have a mix-and-match adventure with other participants in the class. Remember that you are making a cowl so the material you choose should feel comfortable next to your skin.
Material Fee: $0 if you bring your own needle. $20.00 if you purchase a needle.
Class Fee: $90
Class Size: Limited to 10
About Your Instructor
Deborah Simon is an eclectic. She is/has been a teacher, fiber artist, corporate paralegal, credit bureau operator, trainer, mom, and wife. Knitting for more than 10 years now, Deborah also enjoys test knitting, sample knitting, spinning, dyeing, and processing raw wool. More than anything, though, Deborah covets a challenge. She began designing a couple of years ago and was fortunate to have her first design marketed by Frabjous Fibers. This class will be based on that design, and will give you the tools to become a pattern designer too.
Twisted Strait Fibers members will receive a 10% discount off the event price.
