Try a new resist technique

Instructor: Faye Aune

Are you new to felting and want to learn the basic how to’s? Are you an experienced felter who wants to try a new resist technique? Or how about learning some new methods for embellishing your project? In this workshop you will learn the procedures for laying out wool fibers to wet-felt a bracelet using a resist. The resist and basic tools for felting will be provided.

Experience Level:  All experience levels welcome.

What to bring: You will need approximately two ounces of Polwarth/Silk wool blend that you can purchase either before the class at the Artful Ewe in Port Gamble or at the beginning of the workshop. We are using the Polwarth/Silk wool blend because it felts well and feels lovely against the skin. You will also need a beautiful button to go with your felt. Ideally the button should be at least 1” across and have a shank on the underside if you want the thread to be hidden once it is sewn on. (This is part of the magic!)

You will also need 2 old large bath towels and 6 old hand towels to sop up extra water. We recommend a plastic apron and several pairs of latex or nitrile gloves to protect yourself and your clothes. Please bring a 12 inch ruler along with pair of small sharp scissors. You may want a garbage liner or tub to take home your damp towels.

Material Fee:  $20.00.

Class Fee: $90

Class Size: Limited to 6
