Felting with Faith

Faith Hagenhofer has been a fiber artist/feltmaker for 25 years and a shepherd for 15 years. She doesn’t make clothing, she doesn’t make furniture, she creates art through her felt and has exhibited widely around the United States. In Faith’s work there’s a through-line exploring diasporatic and global movements of people and Peoples. As a first generation American, the concepts of uprootedness and rerootedness are a common theme in her work. Her childhood was spent on Staten Island, NY but she emigrated to Washington where she replanted herself on Hercules Farm in Tenino, WA with her sheep and her dye plants.

Faith will be joining Twisted Strait Fibers for our next Online Community Gathering on February 27th at 1pm. She will be giving us a tour of her “Cats Paw Studio,” on her farm where she raises Gotland sheep, and then will return to her studio where she will show us her creative process and current projects she has going on. Right now, she is doing some dye things and larger sculptural pieces that also involve block printing and/or sheets of felt.

You must register to attend this event. We hope to see you there!
