Sheep Shearing
March 27, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join the Twisted Strait Fibers Cooperative for our next Online Community Educational event where we will be joined by Roni Smith of The Smithshyre. She will share with us a video of her farms annual sheep shearing and provide Q&A for attendees around the process.
The purpose of any homestead is to work toward self sufficiency and sheep are very much a part of this homestead. The sheep are shorn twice yearly, which is always a very exciting time and something they look forward to sharing with the community. The farm is blessed with 11 beautiful sheep of 4 colors- white, true black, brown & rose grey.
“We really love the sheep, they have such great temperaments and the fiber is so luxurious. I’m hoping we can get the fiber mill project completed so I can actually see what it’s like as yarn or something more usable.” Roni does not toute herself as a fiber person, with the exception of hoarding it. “I became a member of the Twisted Strait Fibers Cooperative in early 2017 and I’m incredibly excited for the potential of a local mill someday soon”.
